Ted Land is an Emmy-winning multimedia journalist who joined the WSBT news team in August, 2012. He came to Michiana from Alaska where he worked as a reporter at KTUU, an NBC station owned by Schurz Communications Inc., the parent company of WSBT.

Land is the recipient of multiple awards from the National Press Photographers Association. He recently earned the 2013 Chicago/Midwest Emmy award for solo video journalism.

During his four years in America’s “Last Frontier,” Land covered everything from the political aspirations of former governor Sarah Palin to the eruption of a volcano that coated Anchorage in ash. His final assignment was to fly to base camp on Mt. McKinley in Denali National Park and show viewers the hundreds of climbers who attempt North America’s highest peak each spring and summer. Land earned two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for feature stories he produced during his time at KTUU.

He’s also worked as a reporter and anchor in Reno, Nevada, and as a photojournalist at CLTV in Chicago.

Ted graduated from the University of Illnois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in broadcast journalism. He performed with the Marching Illini during the fall and stayed busy with internships at WCIA, the NBC News Chicago bureau, and the CNN Chicago bureau during the rest of the year.

Land grew up in a Chicago suburb, but knows Inidiana and Michigan well, having made numerous trips East on the weekends to hike and swim along the lakefront. He also has family scattered throughout the WSBT viewing area.
