Elkhart man dies in workplace accident

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. -

A 30-year-old Elkhart man lost his life Friday while working at a grain facility near White Pigeon.

St. Joseph County, Mich. police say the man was loading railcars at the Andersons in Mottville Township, lost his footing and fell into a rail car that was being filled with grain.

Co-workers pulled him out and started CPR but were unsuccessful saving him. The man died on the scene.

It happened shortly before 11 a.m.

The victim's name has not been released.

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating. 

White Pigeon fire/rescue, St. Joseph County, Mich. sheriff's deputies and Michigan State Police were called to the scene to help.
