Sgt. Chad Hill of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department says officers found the driver, 38-year-old Shannon Hursey of Warsaw in the road suffering from a severe head injury.

Hursey was airlifted to Fort Wayne's Lutheran Hospital where he was in critical condition.

Investigators say their initial probe shows Hursey was driving south on State Road 25 and for an unknown reason hit a guard rail on the west side of the road.

Hursey was not wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.
