PLYMOUTH, Ind. -

One of the biggest weekends of the year is underway as the Blueberry Festival continues in Marshall County today.

The annual event features food, a parade, crafts, fireworks, and live music.

And this year, police are taking steps to make the festival safer for you and your family.

They're now using a mobile service called Nixle to help with kids who get separated from their parents.

It allows police to send texts to everyone who is signed up with the service and it's free for both law enforcement and the public.

To sign up for free -- text the word "blueberry" to 888-777.

Officials estimate they could see roughly 100,000 guests per day.

If you plan to attend the festival today, make sure you bring your rain gear. Showers are scattered throughout the area this afternoon, but any storms has potential to produce very heavy rainfall.
