A group of engineering students from Notre Dame grabbed some rakes and put on their gloves for a good cause Saturday.
The students helped cleanup Bowman Creek in South Bend.
For years the brush has become overgrown and people have dumped trash and other debris into the water.
The students are also doing things like building bridges since the old structures are damaged--so it's also a chance for them to apply what they've learned.
"We're using concepts we're using in our classrooms in terms of balancing structures, concrete mix designs and all those things," Notre Dame engineering student Sarah Finke said.
Students say it feels good to be able to get out into the community and make a difference.
