2 young men suspected of robbing an east side South Bend 7-Eleven were captured late Wednesday afternoon on the South Shore Railroad.
Capt. Phil Trent of the South Bend Police Department tells WSBT the men, believed to be 19- and 21-years-old were arrested after their South Shore train stopped in Portage.
Portage police made the arrests, and South Bend detectives went there to pick them up.
Trent says a woman was with them, and police were trying to determine if she, too, was connected with the 7-Eleven holdup.
It was around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday when the convenience store/gas station in the 300 block of S. Logan was robbed.
Another woman was arrested within 15 minutes of the 911 call, while Trent believes a another woman faked a carjacking and injuries to create a diversion and slow down police. That woman was also taken to the hospital after what Trent says appears to have been a 'rouse."
Trent says an informant gave police the tip that the suspects had left on the South Shore in South Bend on their way west.
Trent says no one was hurt in the robbery.
He says a small amount of cash and cigarettes were taken in the heist.
