BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. -

In Berrien Springs, police are searching for three men suspected in a robbery and assault spree on the campus of Andrews University. The crime spree rattled many students on campus. The robberies and assaults happened within less than a half an hour of each other.

Andrews is a Christian university, and students generally feel protected from the dangers of the outside world. But that all changed Saturday night.

It's a quiet peaceful day on the campus of Andrews University...

"It's like we live in a bubble I guess," said junior Afia Asamoah.

But three men have shattered the sense of safety felt by students.

"...I got really freaked out cause all I heard was lockdown and I was like I didn't know what was going on so I closed the blinds and turned off the lights and got into my closet and I turned the brightness down on my phone and I was texting people like what's going on," said junior Kayla Dehm.

All dorms were locked early last night after Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police say three male suspects went on a crime spree.

"Because I initially didn't know what was happening I was scared," Asamoah said.

First, the suspects tried to rob a 17-year-old student outside Meier Hall, but they didn't get anything. Then police say they headed east to Nethery Hall, where they assaulted a 23-year-old student and stole his wallet. The crime spree finally ended outside Garland Apartments, where the suspects tried to rob a 35-year-old man. But he fought back and yelled for help.

"It makes me a little worried," said junior Abel Yadata.

Police say the suspects used a knife and what appears to be a plastic pellet gun to threaten the victims. They were last seen running toward woods behind the apartment complex. A K-9 Unit picked up a possible track, but police aren't sure if it belongs to the suspects...

"I picture this place as a safer place cause I'm from D.C. so in D.C.," Yadata said. "I'd be a little more worried, but here I didn't have a care until this happened so it makes me second guess walking at night."

It's something on the minds of many students now as they realize crime can happen anywhere.

Here's a description of the three suspects:

The first one is a short black man with dread locks. He was last seen wearing glasses, a gray or light blue hoodie, white shoes and a puffy vest.

The second suspect is described as a white man.

The third suspect was last seen wearing a white cloth over his mouth.

Police say all three are in their late teens, early twenties.
