ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. -

A Three Rivers man was airlifted Tuesday afternoon after being thrown from his four wheeler after a crash.

Our CBS affiliates at WWMT in Kalamazoo report 74-year-old Gerald Butler was trying to cross Michigan Avenue, west of Hutchinson Road, and did not see an oncoming vehicle heading eastbound.

The man was struck by a Chevy pickup pulling a boat.

Butler's four wheeler hit the trailer and he was thrown from the ATV. He was airlifted to Bronson Hospital with serious injuries.

Police say Butler was not wearing a helmet.

The driver and passenger in the Chevy were not hurt.
