Nov. 21st Outstanding Student Athlete: Winamac's Tyler Katschke

This year's Winamac Warriors are following a familiar recipe - win every game you play by riding a running back named Tyler, in this case, senior Tyler Katschke.
"The roll that we're on right now is amazing," says Katschke, who also plays linebacker for Winamac. "The team has been working hard throughout the summer. We're blessed to accomplish this goal."
The Warriors are 13-0 after their regional win over Pioneer last Friday.
The man they call 'Big Kat' has come up huge for the Warriors all year. He broke the school records for rushing yards in a single season and career.
Those marks were set by another Tyler back in 2000, Tyler Roth, the son of longtime head coach Tim Roth.
"I couldn't be happier," Roth says. "He emulates everything you want in a football player. Great skills, team player, but very humble."
There is one other similarity to that 2000 team. That was the only other regional title in school history.
On Friday, the Warriors will host Tri-Central with a chance to secure the program's first-ever state championship appearance.
"We talked about it ever since after last season," says Katschke. "Going on to do something big and going to state. We got to play Semi-State first, of course. It's a great feeling."
We're nearing the end of another high school football season, but Katschke and the Warriors hope their time in the sun lasts a little longer.
